In a world where over one billion of the earth’s people live on less than $1 per day, Fair Trade businesses aim to combat poverty by providing a fair, livable wage for all workers, ensuring safe working conditions, aiding community development efforts, respecting cultural identity, & promoting environmentally sound business practices. It is a sustainable way to provide economic opportunity to marginalized people in some of the poorest communities worldwide.
The gallery has specially curated hand crafted items from artisans whose work is supported through Fair Trade Companies.
There's nothing quite like vintage hand crafted work. We scour auctions, flea markets and estate sales in search of unique hand crafted items from yesteryear. We never know what we'll find, and neither will you! Craft selections have included wood carvings, jewelry, embroidery, quilting, needlepoint, paintings, sculpture and more, the only thing for sure is that when you see a vintage craft that speaks to you - don't hesitate, as it likely wont be in the gallery for long!
What is a Vintage Bead?
Vintage Beads are beads that are no longer in production. They are at least 25 years old and were typically produced in Japan, West Germany, Czechoslovakia and Austria. Beads were made from glass, ceramic, crystal, metal, bakelite, plastic, lucite, paper mache and wood. The Gallery has a huge collection of vintage beads that are from "new" old stock - they have never been used and await your creativity for jewelry, scrapbooking, crafts and just about any craft use you can imagine!
North Fork Craft Gallery is proud to represent an eclectic selection of crafts from jewelry designers, glass, textile, assemblage artists, potters, ceramists, metal-smiths, beaders, quilters, doll makers, natural soap makers, wood workers, sculptors & more. We are continually amazed by the talent of our artisans, most from our home base on Long Island.
When you visit North Fork Craft Gallery you are sure to find something special - with a range of prices from $5 and up!
